The role of Sr Corporate Team Leader II will be the leader of the Minneapolis, MN. Corporate Banking Group, which is a sub-region of the Midwest Corporate Banking Group.

 

The Minneapolis, MN. Corporate Banking Group is responsible for managing global banking relationships with public and private companies headquartered in Minnesota and surrounding areas with revenues typically in excess of $200 million and up to $5 billion. 

 

This group provides traditional corporate banking and investment banking products to its clients. 

 

The role holder is expected to implement a regional business strategy to align to the U.S. and Group objectives that include building long-term profitable relationships that leverage the HSBC platform both domestically and internationally. Fundamental to the growth strategy is the acquisition of new clients and adding value through sector expertise.

 

Impact on the Business

  • Lead a team of Global Relationship Managers and Associates in the execution of the Global and U.S. Corporate Banking strategy to deliver revenue and PBT growth and to achieve AOP/ROP targets and key performance indicators, including revenue growth, new client acquisition and profitability while building a sustainable business model in line with Corporate Banking/CMB strategy.
  • Deepen customer relationships through driving business collaboration with key stakeholders including Global Banking & Markets, Global Trade & Receivables Finance, Global Liquidity and Cash Management, Private Banking, and Retail Banking & Wealth Management.
  • Contribute to effective utilization of the area/country balance sheet through monitoring risk-weighted assets (RWA) and deployment of appropriate risk management tools to price appropriately for risk and to selectively acquire assets and monitor impairment charges and leading loss indicators

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Contribute to the development and deployment of an effective acquisition and retention strategy to increase HSBC’s market share and gain larger share of wallet across assigned area.
  • Ensure the team is effectively deployed to directly solicit, cross-sell, and service qualified Corporate Banking customers.
  • Strive for class-leading customer experience by cultivating a consistent selling and relationship management culture.
  • Lead implementation of appropriate area-level marketing campaigns, aligned to that of Global Corporate Banking/CMB which highlight core strengths where HSBC has “the right to win”.
  • Builds networks and relationships within market, overseeing day to day relationships with important clients for area.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Lead, motivate and inspire the team to achieve the Group strategy and business objectives
  • Develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
  • Be ultimately responsible for the performance management of your team, using relevant performance management tools, ensuring timely action is taken to improve underperformance
  • Share knowledge, experience and best practices within and outside of immediate team
  • Promote a collective culture to spread experience & best practice.
  • Develop appropriate retention strategies within the team’s cost plan.
  • Manage succession for key roles using internal and selective hires where appropriate.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Drives implementation of transformational change.
  • Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
  • Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, optimizing relations with regulators.
  • Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned area and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
  • Protect sensitive customer and bank information by ensuring documents, computers, files, and all confidential matters are appropriately handled as set forth by policy. Be vigilant in driving staff behavior in an aligned fashion, holding them accountable for any violation of policy.
  • To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity.
  • The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
