JOB SUMMARY

As the Senior Designer, you will be responsible for the preparation of construction engineering drawings for Metropolitan Water District’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This positon gives you the opportunity to use your general knowledge of Civil and/or Structural design, using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methodologies and practices. Operating Bentley Microstation V8i 2D and 3D (CAD), you will be responsible for developing construction engineering plans for large diameter pipelines; canals; tunnels; facility sites; and facility underground infrastructure piping and utilities.

Additionally, you will prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design Civil and/or Pipeline Structural design drawings; participate in cross-functional design project team(s); take on Project CAD Coordinator lead responsibilities; collaborate with Project CAD Coordinators, Engineers and his/her discipline lead; develop presentation images and figures for reports; and develop conceptual, preliminary, and final design Microstation 3D models. Familiarity of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software’s Bentley Inroads and AECOsim building modeler will allow you to expand your impact within this position.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency and six years of increasingly responsible, relevant experience; OR five years of relevant experience and twelve quarter units or eight semester units from an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

Relevant experience is defined as: experience with preparation and coordination of civil or structural engineering drawing presentations such as: site plans; plan and profiles; sections and details using 2D/3D CAD production.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Valid California Class C Driver License (Required at the time of application) that allows for driving in the course of employment.
