As the in-house federal lobbyist for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the Executive Legislative Representative participates in all legislative activities related to the implementation of Metropolitan’s federal advocacy programs. Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager/Chief External Affairs Officer, the Executive Legislative Representative represents Metropolitan’s interests before Congress and the Executive Branch and plays a critical role in promoting and protecting Metropolitan’s near- and long-term legislative, regulatory, and policy objectives.
The Executive Legislative Representative will have a minimum of six years of progressively responsible, directly-related experience in government relations and legislative advocacy at the federal level; combination of education and progressively responsible, directly-related experience in government relations and legislative advocacy at the local, state, or federal level totaling ten years is also acceptable. This person must have thorough knowledge of federal legislative and executive branches. The successful candidate must possess a strong political acumen and exceptional analytical and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve desired results. A solid understanding of current urban, agricultural or environmental water issues and policies is preferred but not required.
