The Engineer (Instrumentation & Control Design) will act as a lead and design manager of multi-discipline projects, and provide technical expertise for projects associated with water treatment, distribution facilities and facility automation. In this position you will develop engineering design criteria, calculations, plans, specifications, sign and stamp documents, for a variety of projects associated with process control/automation, and water distribution, storage and treatment systems.

The Design Section provides several critical engineering services for Metropolitan Water District. Instrumentation & Control Design Team designs systems related to controls, automation controls, instrumentation and monitoring and supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA). Facilities include: conventional water treatment plants, ozone generation and injections facilities, water treatment auxiliary systems, advanced water treatment facilities, chemical injections facilities, and solids handling facilities. The team designs facilities & equipment associated with water treatment plant including: chemical delivery systems, process systems & equipment designs, unit processes, water treatment auxiliary systems, pumps, valves & actuators.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.

A degree (Bachelors or Masters) in related filed is defined as a degree in one of the following fields: Electrical, Computer or Electronic engineering.

Relevant Experience is defined as: leading a design team in a project team environment to develop construction drawings and specifications of control systems for water/wastewater treatment and/or petrochemical distribution OR leading a design team and designing systems in a project team environment to develop construction drawings and specifications for facilities associated with the treatment of water or wastewater, hydroelectric facilities, or petrochemical facilities.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment. License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (Electrical or Control Systems).
