In this role, you will utilize journey-level automotive mechanical, electrical skills, experience, and knowledge in the practices, procedures, and methods of servicing, maintaining and repairing complex automotive, light and heavy vehicles and heavy construction equipment, as well as mobile and stationary emergency generating equipment and systems. You will maintain and repair a variety of automotive, light and heavy equipment and systems. This includes gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles such as cars, sport utility vehicles, pickups and trucks of varied size and configurations, graders, bulldozers, tractor-trailers, tankers, cranes and other construction-related heavy equipment.

You will use a detailed Maintenance Management System (MMS) database necessary for a work order, inventory control, fuel management, service records, and regulatory entries. You will also support the operational core of water and power reliability by effectively maintaining, repairing, and improving the quality of fleet equipment and services for all core and supporting operations and maintenance functions, including shutdowns. You will provide and maintain fleet equipment reliability, quality, and efficiency through a mix of general and advanced predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance skills.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency in addition to a minimum of 6 years in an automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair position.
OR
High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency and attainment of journey level skills through a recognized automotive light/medium or heavy equipment maintenance trade training program and/or applicable, related experience within an industrial environment.

Experience and knowledge as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of automotive equipment including pumps, compressors, automotive, and heavy. Skills necessary include mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, welding, and computer/electronics, and handheld diagnostic systems.


Relevant Experience is defined as: experience as an equipment mechanic, including but not limited to heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulics, graders, generators(stationary and portable), etc.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a California Commercial Class-A Driver’s license and medical certification with tanker, hazmat, air brake, and trailer endorsements.

• 65% Technical Skills, including testing, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of light and heavy-duty gasoline, diesel-powered vehicles, sedans, trucks, construction equipment, and emergency generators using hand tools, power tools, and lifting devices commonly used in the industry as well as computerized diagnostic equipment such as lab scopes, scanners and dynamometer diagnostics including smog inspections. Knowledge of computer operating systems related to the fleet industry. Knowledge of safety practices related to the industry.
