This position works in the Public Affairs department, which is overseen by the executive vice president. The digital communications manager will meet the qualifications listed below and be primarily responsible for developing content strategy, evaluating analytics to adjust the strategy, creating content and producing/distributing OHA member and public communications via OHA’s owned communications channels: e-newsletters, social media, email marketing, ohiohospitals.org and the OHA Events app. The manager is employed at-will, is non-exempt and reports to the senior director of Public Affairs.

 

Representative Duties and responsibilities:

 

Primary Duties:

  • Develop OHA’s digital content strategy and manage the overall editorial calendar for OHA’s member and public communications channels
  • Develop content and deploy OHA’s primary weekly public relations tool, Newswire
  • Create content and manage deployment of OHA’s member e-communications including newsletters, member alerts and conference or webinar promotions
  • Manage OHA’s social media channels developing campaign strategies and content for the association’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts
  • Create content for ohiohospitals.org and maintain assigned sections of the site daily
  • Monitor and analyze member and public engagement with OHA’s communications channels to adjust strategies as needed and to support the annual KPI report and monthly communications metrics report
  • Serve as the Public Affairs liaison for OHA’s Member Services group (including OHA’s workforce solutions and energy program) and manage the department’s overall marketing and communications needs
  • Provide creative strategies and graphic design support for OHA’s overall presentation, promotional and communications materials including conferences and the OHA Annual Meeting
  • Manage the preparation of field visit packets for member CEOs
  • Support the Advocacy team with special events such as OHA’s Annual Meeting and media events
  • Monitor OHA social media channels and coordinate policy/procedure recommendations for OHA staff; and recommend process and appropriate content sharing with professional societies affiliated with OHA

 

Secondary Duties as Needed:

  • Archive digital assets, including photography and video files
  • Maintain OHA’s subscriptions for archiving and social media scheduling tools
  • Staff OHA events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, digital communications or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated content and outreach strategy skills
  • Strong AP style and copyediting skills
  • Leadership and analytics skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (specifically InDesign, Photoshop) and content management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

 

PREFERRED Qualifications:

  • Previous agency or newsroom experience
  • Experience in video production for online use
  • Experience working in the health care or public policy sectors
  • Working knowledge of managing multi-channel campaigns
