POSITION SUMMARY: The Mason will help build sidewalks, streets, business, laying a solid foundation for each. This position will cut and size bricks and related materials to construct everything from chimneys to fireplaces to walls to entire buildings. This position will follow blueprints and directions, cutting bricks and in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.

QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires formalized training and experience in the construction industry. One (1) year of experience in working with brick, concrete blocks, concrete, and natural or manmade stone to build walls, walkways, fences, and other masonry structures.

Must be able to work day/evenings/weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and bend; carry and lift items weighing 45 pounds and over; and use tools involving manipulation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read blueprints or drawings
• Lay out patterns, forms, or foundations according to plans
• Build and repair walls, floors, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures
• Forming, pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete
• Use of stone veneer, natural stone, brick and concrete block, and other masonry
• Break or cut materials to required size
• Pointing, cleaning , and caulking on older structures on which mortar has come loose
• Construct/assemble scaffolding to safe construction standards
