The Assistant Engineer I, will assist and learn from experienced engineers with the structural design of buildings and buried structures, such as large diameter pipelines, buried reinforced concrete structures, pumping plants, water treatment plants, chemical tank farms, and other structures associated with the conveyance, distribution, and treatment of water.


In this position you will assist with structural design calculations; seismic analysis using current Code provisions; pipeline design per American Water Works Association (AWWA), preparation of plans, sections, and details; and development of construction specifications. Responsibilities include assisting and learning about project coordination, technical report writing, oral presentation, site investigation, structural inspections and observations, construction submittal review, data research and other assignments as required. In addition, both office and fieldwork will be required.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hired date.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
