Our Operations Compliance Team in Water Quality Section’s Water Purification Unit ensures the water quality-related satisfaction of Metropolitan’s customers, member agencies, sub-agencies, and drinking water customers. The team currently has two (2) openings for Assistant Engineer II located in La Verne, California.

The Assistant Engineers will serve as Water Quality liaisons for the Water Treatment Section and Conveyance and Distribution Section within the Metropolitan to support operations of water treatment plants and distribution system and ensure continued compliance with current and future drinking water regulations. Our Assistant Engineers will assist with reviewing and summarizing water treatment plant operations data, assist in conducting full-scale evaluations and process optimization studies, and assist with providing recommendations to Water Treatment Section and Conveyance and Distribution Section. They will generate water quality and operations compliance reports with established templates. As the Assistant Engineer II on the Operations Compliance team, they will also collect water quality samples as needed at Metropolitan’s water treatment plants and in the distribution system and will support emergency responses as needed after proper training.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: assisting in working with water and/or wastewater treatment processes, OR distribution system water quality monitoring and/or operations, OR experience in water/wastewater regulatory compliance.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
