The Assistant Engineer I position is within the Water Purification Unit and will be part of the Engineering Compliance Team. This entry-level position will be responsible for assisting groups within Metropolitan to ensure 100% compliance with primary drinking water standards in the design and operations of Metropolitan’s water systems.

The duties of this position include learning and assisting in reviewing engineering design drawings and specifications; assisting with developing and documenting process design criteria to be used for treatment plant and distribution system upgrades; assisting with technical support to Water Treatment and Conveyance & Distribution Sections; assisting on treatment plant and/or distribution Quality Assurance Teams; assisting with the development of test plans and bench, pilot, demonstration, and full-scale plant testing to analyze water quality issues and optimize treatment processes.

In this position you will learn and assist to analyze water quality and operational data, complex water chemistry calculations, participate in field investigations, and preparing memoranda, reports, and documenting results.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hire date.

A related field is defined as a discipline within Chemical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
