The Director of Scholarships develops and advances a coordinated and strategic approach to maximize all available scholarship funding to positively impact enrollment objectives of the University while working collaboratively with deans, department heads, and administrative units to optimize recruitment and retention efforts via institutional and philanthropic scholarship funding. UWM’s inaugural Director of Scholarships will establish the central scholarship office while guiding the campus-wide scholarship strategy with particular focus on a student- and donor-centric culture. As a key member of the Enrollment Management leadership team, the incumbent will leverage technical expertise to maximize scholarship opportunities across campus including both strategy creation and day-to-day administrative functions. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, implementation of a strategic scholarship plan, and the ability to collaborate with numerous stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of financial aid, recruitment, retention or other related experience.
- Demonstrated experience successfully implementing a campus wide strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of leadership shown through successful outcomes working with partners across schools, divisions and departments to implement processes or solutions for a problem.
- Experience developing department structures and operational systems to support work towards an annual goal.
- Demonstrated experience creating a student focused outreach campaign.
- Experience working with community partners and donors.
- Knowledge of federal financial aid processes and compliance.
- Minimum of four (4) years of supervising professional staff.
