In this Software Engineering role, you will design and implement cloud and edge platforms solutions that enable our customers to use Azure to further their mission.   

  

Responsibilities

  • Solution software development with a high degree of focus on quality code, innovation and strong communications through documentation.
  • Architecting and implementing solutions that push the platform through engagement with Microsoft’s most important customers or by developing canonical reference applications derived from customer scenarios.
  • Identifying solution patterns, gaps, whitespace, limits and adoption barriers and driving feedback into the engineering teams to fuel the continued evolution of our cloud platform
  • Working on both hybrid and native cloud solutions across a broad range of cloud infrastructure

 

Working directly with both customer and engineering leaders alike, this technical role presents a robust opportunity to have a tangible impact on our cloud products and advance product strategy, as well as fuel our customers’ success.  Intentional collaboration is a must in this role.  This role will be based in Redmond, WA or Reston, VA with travel required around 15 to 20%.

  

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5+ years system software development
  • 2+ years of experience in building/shipping cloud-based products and services
  • 2+ years of experience architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions (Cloud Native and Cloud Edge)
  • Excellent at interfacing with customers on-site, and a strong desire to help them succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-focused disciplines or significant relevant experience
  • Technical knowledge of Azure cloud architecture and services (PaaS/IaaS), or similar experience with AWS/GCP
  • Familiarity with relevant languages/tools, such Open Source, C, C++ or C# as well as Python
  • Hands-on experience implementing various application/solution migration strategies (i.e. on-premise datacenters to public clouds)
  • Worked on solutions built for cloud scale and resiliency
  • A positive team player focused on conscious collaboration and customer obsession
  • Aptitude and hunger to learn and adapt to the ever-changing cloud technologies
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (e.g. knowing your audience and adjusting accordingly), articulating with courage and conviction

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check and U.S. Residency: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
