Metropolitan Engineers can expect to work on some of the largest water treatment, conveyance, and distribution projects in the world. We deliver an average of 1.5 billion gallons of water per day to a 5,200-square mile service area in Southern California.

Metropolitan owns and operates: Five water treatment plants, the largest of which can deliver up to 750 million gallons of water per day; the Colorado River Aqueduct, a 242-mile conveyance system designated as a national historic engineering landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers, which can convey up to 1.7 billion gallons of water per day from Lake Havasu to Southern California; 800 miles of pipelines, ranging up to nearly 20 feet in diameter; and numerous pumping plants (the largest of which has nine 12,500 hp pumps), hydroelectric generating stations, and support facilities.

Engineering staff plan, design, and manage construction of new facilities and rehabilitation of existing facilities to ensure delivery of high quality water to approximately 19 million people in Southern California.

In this position, as an Assistant Engineer II (Electrical) you will have the opportunity to support engineering projects related to Water Treatment, Conveyance & Distribution, and the Colorado River Aqueduct. You will support project leads through a variety of engineering work including data collection, design development, and construction support. You will have the opportunity to utilize your engineering experience with electrical projects and assignments as you support the Metropolitan Water District's mission to provide water to Southern California.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: electrical engineering work experience in fields of electrical equipment design, testing, and data collection; facility design and planning; power distribution and transmission system design and analysis; field inspector; construction support and management.

Related field is defined as: all accredited engineering degrees are acceptable


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
