MGM Brakes, a division of Indian Head Industries, Inc., is the leading supplier of spring brake actuators for the commercial vehicle industry.  We are currently seeking a highly enthusiastic individual for a Product Design Engineer, located at our corporate office in Charlotte, North Carolina.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Design Engineer is directly responsible for coordinating engineering projects from concept to production involving new product development, concurrent engineering improvement/enhancement, and manufacturing implementation with emphasis in design, analysis, detailing, layout and testing. The Product Design Engineer initiates engineering testing for product performance, design accuracy, longevity, and environmental durability. This position requires communication with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and sales on technical issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Minimum 5+ years of experience with mechanical design work
• Experience with commercial vehicle and braking a plus
• Product knowledge a plus and thorough understanding of materials, linear and nonlinear behavior of materials, fatigue and corrosion
• Ability to read and interpret blue print documents
• Knowledge of stress analysis of structural components using classical and finite element analysis (FEA) methods considering static and dynamic loadings
• Utilization of CAD/3-D Modeling Software
• Solid knowledge of MS Office
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload
• Effective problem solving and decision making skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
