ASSISTANT RESOURCE SPECIALIST II

JOB INFORMATION

The Water Resource Management Group, Resource Implementation Section, has one (1) opening for an Assistant Resource Specialist II, within the Imported Supply Unit at our Headquarters facility in Los Angeles.

JOB SUMMARY

Prepare reports and analytics for State Water Project payments and receipts on cash and accrual basis; State Water Project revenue requirements and budget; Project expenditures for Metropolitan's water supply programs; Develop and maintain Imported Supply Unit budget; Monitor budget and report on budget compliance throughout the fiscal year; Assist in administration of water supply agreements; Track budget performance measures; Prepare reports for contract administration compliance and exceptions; Assist in board letter preparation; Develop PowerPoint presentations

JOB DUTIES

1.Assists in collecting, organizing, and maintaining data; assists in conducting water or power resource, supply and demand, climatic, economic, and demographic studies and projects; prepares correspondence, reports, and presentations.

2.May assist in conducting water or power revenue, cost, and operational analyses.

3.May assist in maintaining and operating water resource planning or power models.

4.Assists in reviewing and analyzing documents and correspondence and identifying potential courses of action.

5.May assist in reviewing legislation, regulations, and ordinances.

6.May participate on a project team.

7.Performs other related resource specialist job duties as required.

Work Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday, alternate Fridays off

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience; OR two years in an MWD Assistant Resource Specialist I classification.

Required Knowledge of: Basic knowledge of water or power resource issues; statistics and economics; and current office technology and equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities to: Problem solve; prioritize and multi-task; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work independently and in a team environment; and operate current office equipment including computers and supporting applications.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

*Valid California Class C Driver License that allows you to drive in the course of your employment

oWater resources available to Southern California and their use and interaction in water planning.

oComputer software tools and techniques that can be used to manage, analyze, and report on budget compliance and contract administration compliance.

oKnowledge of budget preparation procedures, financial reporting and financial planning and auditing.
