The Office of the General Manager, Bay-Delta
Initiatives Section has one (1) opening for a Resource Specialist position at Metropolitan's offices in
Sacramento.

JOB
SUMMARY

This
position is responsible for applying statistical methods, analytical methods
related to biostatistics and biometrics to marine and estuarine fisheries
analysis, and fishery modeling.  It will
also be responsible for supporting the advancement of Metropolitan's Bay-Delta
Initiatives Science Program, focusing on the Sacramento/San Joaquin Bay-Delta,
including fish, riverine and estuarine ecosystems and dynamics, role of tidal
and freshwater flows, habitat, food webs, and stressors.

This
position will also be responsible for: conducting analyses and contributing to
the publication of original analyses and research, including authoring articles
to be published in professional, scholarly, and scientific journals; selecting
and working with consultants and managing consultant contracts; giving presentations
to scientific and technical audiences, and stakeholders; working with
biologists and scientists/modelers from other resource and regulatory agencies
and stakeholder groups; serving as a technical expert in certain regulatory and
legal proceedings.

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, (alternate Fridays off)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related
field and six years of relevant experience; or two years in a MWD Associate
Resource Specialist classification; or Master's degree from an accredited
college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge of:  Water resource or
power issues; project management; and current office technology and equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities to:  Conduct statistical and economic analyses;
resource or system modeling; create technical reports; use independent judgment and
exercise discretion; problem solve; prioritize and multi-task; communicate clearly
and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and
maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of
work; work independently and in a team environment; lead and train; and
operate current office equipment including computers and supporting applications.

Licenses

* Valid California Class C Driver License or its
equivalent in state of residence that allows you to drive in the course of your
employment
