While working at the Disaster Recovery Center in Wiggins, MS, I provided individual assistance on case- to-case bases for Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Assisted applicants with information through knowledge of a data base program (NEMIS) to properly process applications and to assist applicants with needed documents to facilitate the next step for processing. Accepted and submitted documents from applicants for processing and faxed information to NPSC. Researched and distributed resources that were available for to victims and assisted applicants to proper Government, State, Local and
Volunteer Agency’s offering resources on grants and loans for personal recovery due to
the losses from Hurricane Katrina and Rita. I was transferred to the Picayune
Recertification Office upon the closure of the Disaster Recovery Center. There, I was assigned a case load of individual applicants to recertify for continued temporary
housing. I traveled throughout Pearl River and Hancock County to recertify eligible applicants for continued temporary housing and provided available Federal, State, Local and Volunteer Resources that were available for long term recovery. Obtained information from individual applicants on the progress of finding permanent housing and entered facts and findings in NEMIS and FRRATS. Recorded the percentage of progress on applicants who were homeowners and entered facts and findings in NEMIS and FRRATS.
