SENIOR PROGRAMMER/ANALYST
Supported the batch and online Master Securities Description File system. It is one of the most crucial applications in the firm because it holds all of the pricing and indicative data for all of the securities held by the firm's investors. It provides vital information to numerous other applications (e.g. Statements, Trading Desk, Settlements, Confirms, etc.).
* Participated in all phases of system development including requirements gathering and analysis through project design, development, testing, implementation, deployment, maintenance and enhancement in response to business exigencies and SEC regulations.
* Participated with several team members in a project to propagate DB tables with data from the Master Securities Description VSAM files.
* Led the Master Securities Description team in group effort with other IT teams, as well as IBM in the planning and execution of a major firm project to move the data processing facility to another location. Successful completion of the project resulted in significant data processing costs for the firm.
* Acted as the lead analyst for the Master Securities Description team along with other IT groups in the ongoing contingency planning effort which was designed to anticipate and plan for various disaster scenarios.
* Authored a generic process to send an email through Microsoft Outlook based on a return code from a mainframe job. This function is currently being used in a number of applications within the firm.
* Accomplished the transition of the vendor-supplied data delivery systems from the physical delivery of tapes and cartridges to an electronic system via Connect Direct. Timely completion of this project assured uninterrupted data transmissions after the disaster on September th.
* Provided production support to insure the integrity of the nightly Master Securities Description batch stream and to insure that all expected vendor feeds arrived as scheduled. Promptly resolved any issues as they arose.
* Supplied ad hoc reports for the operations staff using a variety of software tools.
* Designed a system to transmit data changes in real time over the in-house messaging system from the Master Securities Description file to the Trading Desk.
* Devised test cases with the business unit to test system modifications.
