Performed legal research and writing for Domestic Legal staff including writing legal memorandum, conducting legislative research and updating Center’s online fact sheets. Performed legal research for two of the Center’s cases Tummino v. von Eschenbach, being litigated in federal District Court and Gonzales v. Carhart, being argued in the Supreme Court in the fall. Also researched abstinence-only curriculum for future legal challenges.

LANE COUNTY CENTER FOR LAW AND ADVOCACY

Worked on landlord-tenant, custody,restraining/stalking order and immigration cases under supervision of staff attorneys. Drafted client letters and pleadings, conducted client interviews, client intake (Spanish and English speaking clients) and performed Spanish translation.

Implemented a Spanish to English translation software program for the Foreign Agricultural Service Mexico City designed to facilitate the translation of Mexican agricultural laws for Foreign Agricultural Service employees. Compiled a database used to monitor Mexican compliance with proper sanitary standards for the U.S. importation of its agricultural goods.
