The Advanced Materials Group at United Technologies Research Center is seeking an experienced Scientist/Engineer with a broad background in materials science and engineering, with specific experience in one of the following areas: (1) physical metallurgy and microstructure-processing correlations of aluminum alloys and nickel based superalloys, (2) advanced manufacturing technologies including additive manufacturing, and (3) ceramic matrix composites and high temperature ceramic coatings.

The candidate will work in or lead a multi-disciplinary team working on advanced product concepts ranging across all of UTC business units. A diverse experience is preferred.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential for this position. Candidate must demonstrate a history of innovation. Candidate must be able to demonstrate ability to use materials and materials processing as an enabler for new products and product designs. Candidate will be expected to be a strong contributor to the UTRC innovation process working a wide-range of materials applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. degree in Materials or related areas with a minimum of 3 year post-degree experience or M.S. degree in Materials or related areas with a minimum of 5 year post-degree experience is required. 
 
The candidate should be highly motivated and possess strong organizational, teamwork, communication and process discipline skills. The candidate should also be willing to expand his/her technical knowledge field in new areas and applications of high impact to the organization. Individual with proposal writing and grant application experience is preferred.
