This Senior Real Estate Representative position will be responsible for leading and conducting difficult, technical, and complex right of way planning and real estate transactions in support of Metropolitan’s water supply, conveyance, storage, and infrastructure protection projects. The Senior Real Estate Representative acts as a project manager; Acquires property and right-of-way; Coordinates surplus property dispositions and the relocation of property owners; Prepares/reviews/performs inspections, appraisals, cost studies, market trends, and research/analysis of property records and rights, legal descriptions, encumbrances and title issues; Makes recommendations to management and Board members regarding real property actions; Develops high quality technical documents and trial documentation, and provides witness testimony for legal actions when necessary.

This Senior Real Estate Representative will also train and lead other real estate classifications in performing a variety of specific assignments related to the right-of-way acquisition. Applicants at this level must understand real estate principles for public agency right-of-way acquisition, negotiations, appraisals, and standards of practice. The successful applicant must also understand and adhere to ethical standards for the right-of-way profession.

Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and six years of relevant experience of which two years must have been at the Real Estate Representative III level; Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of relevant experience; of which two years must have been at the Real Estate Representative III level.

Relevant experience is defined as a combination of real estate transactional experience in right of way negotiation and acquisition of real property rights; appraisal valuation; relocation; title; encumbrances; eminent domain; easements; real estate market analysis; and/or project management.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

Licenses:

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive in the course of your employment
