The IT System Administrator I (Database Administrator) is an entry level position performing Information Technology System Administrator I job duties. The ideal candidate should have some knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of database administration (such as Oracle, SQLServer, MySQL, etc.); data management; operational characteristics of server operating systems such as Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, and Unix; and methods and techniques to develop, test, and implement database or web application systems.

Positions at this level learn to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity; work on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. Specific and detailed guidelines covering all aspects of the assignment are provided; work is in strict adherence to the guidelines; deviations must be authorized. The work consists of tasks that are clear-cut and directly related.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is defined as a degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or related/similar.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing, and registrations:
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
