Within the Resource Development Team of the Water Resource Management Group, the Associate Resource Specialist will implement programs relating to water resources planning and development. One role supports the development of groundwater and water reuse, while the other supports development of brackish and seawater desalination. Both roles contribute to innovative approaches to salinity management, open water data, the water-energy nexus and other resource programs. In this position, you will participate in stakeholder meetings, review and propose legislation and participate in regulatory processes. You will collect and analyze data, operate water resource models, perform economic, statistical and financial analyses, initiate related research, administer agreements, review and write reports and develop presentations. You will also help implement Metropolitan’s Future Supply Actions Funding Program.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience; or two years in an MWD Assistant Resource Specialist II classification; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience.


Relevant Experience is defined as: Work experience in water resource planning and development, water resource program design and implementation, groundwater, desalination, reuse, stormwater, or salinity management.

Related Fields: engineering, economics, hydrology, geology, geography, environmental science, data science, or policy.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
