As the Manufacturing Services Unit Manager you will be responsible for managing and supervising the manufacturing, rehabilitation, construction, and maintenance of water system equipment at Metropolitan including large diameter pipe, pipe spools, valves, gates, pumps, turbines and other related equipment.

In this role you will direct the work of team managers and staff involved in the management and day-to-day operations of the Manufacturing Services Unit (MSU) including staffing, long-range planning, and adapting the MSU workforce to address emergencies, shutdowns, and routine assistance in the areas of fabrication, machining, coatings, valve maintenance and diving. You will provide oversight of the development and administration of projects, programs, professional services agreements and/or multi-million dollar reimbursable agreements.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and eighteen years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position; or an associate's degree from an accredited college or university and fourteen years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management, or supervisory position; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and twelve years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position; or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position.

Relevant Experience is defined as: fabrication, manufacturing, design or management of complex projects in manufacturing support activities


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Registration as a California Professional Engineer

ABOUT MANUFACTURING SERVICES UNIT (MSU)
Metropolitan’s manufacturing facility in La Verne consists of both conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) large lathes and milling machines as well as large rollers that can fabricate pipe up to 20 ft in diameter. The over 50,000 square foot shop includes several bridge cranes with hook capacity up to 60 tons and the large industrial coating facility includes multiple spray booths and ovens staffed with National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) certified coaters.
