Who We Are & What We Are Looking For
 

HSBC Venture Debt invests non-dilutive capital into high growth, VC-backed technology companies. Our differentiator is a global footprint in 70+ countries as well as a holistic banking platform including investment and corporate banking solutions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the intersection of finance, technology, and startups. Ideally, you have experience in structuring and underwriting debt transactions as well as a keen interest in high growth tech startups. You will be a critical member of a lean team and primarily focus on due diligence, deal structuring, and portfolio management as well as communicating with internal stakeholders regarding the venture debt portfolio.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Translate startup business models and financial data into functional financial models including forecasting, scenario analysis, and valuation analysis.
  • Structure venture debt facilities that encourage sustainable growth and protect against financial and non-financial credit risks
  • Conduct sector and market research in specific verticals such as enterprise SaaS, fintech, and AI
  • Review information and communicate pertinent information regarding client compliance status, risk levels, and broader trends
  • Utilize critical thinking skills in supporting the team on both recommendations and actions pertaining to pipeline and portfolio management
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio management framework that ensures timely and concise reporting of financial performance to senior credit approvers
  • Develop expertise in HSBC’s banking products and markets
  • Support the development of new loan types, business models, and sector focused insights.
