As the Engineer for this position, you will be responsible for the project management of multiple capital and or O&M projects in the Colorado River Aqueduct PM Team, providing project management expertise on engineering projects and ensuring that engineering service meets Metropolitan’s standards of quality, efficiency, and technical integrity. You use your project manager skills to address day-to-day management of all project activities as well as assisting or leading the preparation of project proposals; performing and or directing planning and scoping studies; obtaining project funding and authorization through the Board letter/Board presentation process; monitoring and controlling project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets; coordinating with Water System Operations and Water Resources Management (customers); You’ll identify and coordinate environmental assessments and documentation, prepare reports, and utilize standard Metropolitan software applications – Primavera and Microsoft Project. You’ll also provide regular input and updates to the CIP system and perform other initiatives related to project management or new project evaluations, as needed. Employees in this position are required to have and maintain a license in good standing as a California Professional Engineer.

* This position will initially start in Gene Camp for three years, and then transfer to HQ thereafter. Housing will be provided while in Gene Camp.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.


Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing capital projects, analyzing and interpreting data and preparation of technical reports and correspondence; experience with facility upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

• Large scale water distribution system project design and operation with an emphasis on large diameter pipeline rehabilitation, mechanical equipment and/or structural issues;

• Engineering project management concepts and techniques, including scoping, budgeting, benchmarking, scheduling, negotiating, estimating, and planning; status reporting; project controls; project team building; conflict resolution; and leading project staff.
