We are looking for a Technical Director who has a passion and proven track record for developing great games, along with a desire to work on leading edge of simulation and deep learning to enable better strategic and tactical decision making for real-world, global scale problems.


Responsibilities

Successful candidate for this role will have a broad game development experience and world-class team leadership and software engineering skills. You will build and lead a team focused on creating the core technologies and products enabling a new type of gaming based experience leveraging Microsoft Gaming and Cloud technologies, as well as strategic partnerships. This is a rare opportunity to get in at the beginning and help shape the foundation of a brand new game experience, collaborating with industry leading cloud, game studio and game services leaders across Microsoft. Successful candidates will have a track record of shipping quality software and also excel at communicating effectively within a growing organization.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, leading multi-discipline teams.
Minimum 2 full project cycles of experience managing at a Technical Director or Production Leader capacity, running a large franchise project in the gaming industry, with deep experience in at least one of the following areas:
Modeling: schema and flow for capturing and modeling entities in 2D/3D time-based simulation
Terrain data modeling and geospatial integration for Land/Air/Space large-scale simulations
Distributed game engine implementation

Desired Qualifications

5+ years of people management and technical leadership experience with multiple shipped titles.
Experience driving work across programming, art, and design disciplines.
Recruit and developthe best programming talent in the industry.
Strong understanding of software development processes and product management methodologies.
Can solve problems of high technical complexity and scale in game development context
Ability to identify risks early and often and suggest mitigation strategies that are thought through and consider multiple paths to a solution
Demonstrated leadership responsibility for delivery of a technically demanding product, in a team environment, from idea conception through launch.
Comfortable with understanding applications of AI and Reinforcement Learning in general, especially as applied to agent-based modeling or simulation contexts
Experience in communicating with customers, technical, regulatory, business teams, and management to collect requirements, describe product features, and technical designs.
Understanding of live services and the complexities of running a live product.
Passion and broad knowledge of project management and product process.
Business owner/operator mindset
