There are two open positions as an Assistant Engineer I available on the following teams: Construction Management Team (Fabrication) (1 opening located at our Weymouth Plant in La Verne, California); and the Construction Management Team (Materials Testing) (1 opening at our Weymouth Plant in La Verne, California). Your application will place you into consideration for each position.

As an Assistant Engineer I on the Construction Management Team (Fabrication) you will learn and assist with reviewing technical submittals, including design drawings, manufacturing procedures, quality assurance plans, welding procedures, testing, and coating procedures. The successful candidate will assist with inspections of manufactured items and write detailed reports in support of ongoing construction projects. Inspections include fabrication/manufacture of large diameter steel pipe (up to 144 inches), valves, pumps, structural steel, pressure vessels and other equipment typically used in the water industry. You will use your knowledge of basic manufacturing means and methods to assist with fabrication inspections to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Welding Society (AWS), American Water Works Association (AWWA) and other applicable codes and standards.

As an Assistant Engineer I on the Construction Management Team (Materials Testing) you will be responsible for learning and assisting with quality assurance materials sampling, testing, and analysis of soils, concrete, asphalt, filter media, and other construction materials; field inspection duties on heavy public works construction contracts; and on-site contract administration.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hired date.

Related field is defined as: Mechanical engineering, Chemical engineering, Manufacturing engineering, or Industrial Engineering, Civil engineering, Geotechnical engineering or Construction Management.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
