As an Associate Engineer, you will review and assess other agencies/city/developer/utility plans for impacts on Metropolitan’s facilities such as major tract development, new transportation corridors, freeway widening and utility installation. This also includes engineering reviews of complex projects involving relocation and/or protection of Metropolitan’s facilities. You will work with and partner with matrixed teams to assess potential impacts to facilities from proposed projects. You will also prepare comprehensive correspondence containing Metropolitans comments in response to project submittals and communicate by phone, office or site meeting with public agencies or private developers and their engineers to discuss issues that could significantly impact Metropolitan’s facilities. Your responsibilities will include negotiating and resolving conflicts with the contactor/homeowner on issues that may arise impacting Metropolitan's facility, and perform site inspections.

You must possess problem solving skills; the ability to prioritize work assignments; and multi-task. You will focus on creating ideas and plans for correcting issues or handling daily tasks; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and work independently and in a team environment.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience which must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level.


Relevant Experience is defined as: experience reviewing development plans, construction equipment; utilization of construction means and methods; experience with customer service and client engagement.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

Certificates
