Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) is recruiting two Assistant Chemist positions to be part of the Treatment Plant Laboratories Team within the Water Quality Section Chemistry Unit. One position is located at our water treatment plant laboratory in La Verne, CA at the F.E. Weymouth Water Treatment Plant and one is located in Yorba Linda, CA at the Robert B. Diemer Water Treatment Plant. Individuals in these positions conduct routine chemical, physical and microbiological tests; assist and interpret data related to water quality; prepare reports; collect and test water samples; enter sample test results into LIMS; and prepare reagents and standards.

The Assistant Chemists work independently under the direct supervision of the Treatment Plant Laboratory Team Manager and maintain close working relationships with personnel in Water Treatment and Water Quality sections.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Biological, Microbiological, Chemical, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
