CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I

As a Construction Inspector I you will perform job duties in support of the Capital Investment Program which includes applying basic skills in procedures, operations techniques, tools, materials and equipment appropriate to the area of public works construction, inspection, fabrication inspection and/or materials sampling and testing.

As a Construction Inspector I you will learn and assist to perform fabrication inspections of large diameter steel pipe (up to 144 inches), valves, pumps, structural steel, pressure vessels, and other fabricated equipment. You will use your knowledge of basic manufacturing means and methods to assist with review and inspection of welding procedures, non-destructive testing methods, protective coatings, and equipment performance testing; manufacturing quality assurance, and safety practices related to the field. You will also learn and assist with fabrication inspections to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Welding Society (AWS), and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday


EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and four years of increasingly responsible, relevant experience in a journey level craft (civil, structural or mechanical), or construction materials sampling and testing per applicable codes and standards, or fabrication inspection and testing craft (structural or mechanical), per applicable codes and standards. General heavy construction experience may be substituted for a particular craft.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
