The Designer III position involves performing journey level Civil Designer job duties. The work requires general knowledge of Civil Engineering drafting and design standards, methodologies and practices. The position requires knowledge of Computer Aided Design software platforms for the development of engineering plans on large diameter pipelines; canals; tunnels; site and grading layouts; facility underground infrastructure piping and utilities; roads.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing plans on medium to large engineering projects. You will prepare and complete design drawing packages on smaller projects. You will participate in field investigation and studies, prepare preliminary design drawings, and develop CAD graphics and renders for presentations and reports pertaining to engineering projects. You may perform structural and architectural drafting using computer-aided drafting applications (CAD).

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency and two years of increasingly responsible, relevant experience; OR one year of relevant experience and twelve quarter units or eight semester units from an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

Relevant experience is defined as: experience with preparation and coordination of civil engineering drawing presentations such as site plans, plan and profiles, sections and details using 2D/3D CAD production.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

Licenses

Valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent from your state of residency that allows you to drive in the course of your employment (required at time of application).
