Washing Systems seeks a highly self-motivated, Lab Technician to join our thriving team. Washing Systems (WSI) is the largest supplier of commercial laundry detergents in North America, and we provide high quality commercial laundry and chemical products to both uniform and linen rental companies. The Lab Technician will be responsible for providing support to Research and Development personnel by maintaining the lab, maintaining logs and record books, troubleshooting and resolving problems; helping with special projects.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  1. Run performance-based testing of new product formulations.
  2. Communicate and discuss results of tests being performed; including, problems that may have occurred.
  3. Assist lab personnel during product development – both in the laboratory and in the field.
  4. Picking up outside materials for conducting laboratory evaluations.
  5. Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure optimal utilization of time and productivity.
  6. Assist in shipment, inventorying, and repackaging of WSI test kit materials.
  7. Maintain complete and up-to-date technical information in laboratory notebook.
  8. Demonstrate strong safety leadership skills and follow safe work practices.
  9. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Chemistry or related field and 2+ years of experience are required. Will also consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices is required.
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances is required.
  • Preferred Skills include:

                  o Microsoft Office 2013 or 2016, especially, Excel.
                  o Database Systems.
                  o Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.

  • Up to 20% of time will be traveling to and from the Home Office to and from customers/plants.
  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. 
  • Corporate/Lab working environment in the Home Office.
  • Noise level in the Home Office is usually moderate.
