INTRODUCTION:

 

The Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) was established in 1915 as the first state-level hospital association in the U.S.A.  OHA currently represents 220 hospitals and 13 health systems throughout Ohio. OHA's mission is to exist to collaborate with member hospitals and health systems to ensure a healthy Ohio.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position works in the OHA Energy Program and serves both OHA and OHA Solutions. The Energy Program Director will meet the qualifications listed below and be primarily responsible for maintaining the relationship with OHA Member Hospitals and members participating in the OHA Energy Procurement Program. The Director will review the various programs coming before the Ohio Public Utilities Commission as it relates to Energy and attend sessions as needed to represent the interest of OHA Members. Other responsibilities are defined below. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President Member Services and Operations.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties:

  • Represent OHA Members in formal administrative hearings before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO);
  • Lead and direct the OHA Energy Program through the above mentioned PUCO representation as well as related advocacy;
  • Coordinate all OHA Energy Program advocacy positions with the OHA Advocacy Department;
  • Assist Federal advocacy team in issues regarding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), such as, hazardous, infectious and solid waste, air pollution discharge permits, climate change, pharmaceutical waste, pollution prevention and sustainability, and Energy Star;
  • Assist the state advocacy team in issues around Ohio EPA and related topics;
  • Provide support to the OHA's Environmental Leadership Council;
  • Participate with the OHA Hospital Safety Leadership Council;
  • Provide support to the Ohio Society of Hospital Facility Managers;
  • Ensure budgetary compliance and satisfactory results with the OHA Energy Program;
  • Oversee and coordinate activities with Energent Solutions including reviewing all invoices, approving expenses, and directing the work assignment of Energent;
  • Support and expand the OHA energy procurement program through OHA Solutions;
  • Coordinate work with retained outside legal counsel for the OHA Energy Program and strive to limit involvement to appropriate levels;
  • Assure member hospital interests are maintained in dealings with PUCO, energy providers, and outside vendors;
  • Prepare various reports, collect data and maintain records of the OHA Energy Program; and
  • Make recommendations and offer opportunities to improve services and programs in the OHA Energy Program.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist members with requests/questions via phone and email;
  • Maintain excellent customer satisfaction with member participating in energy and sustainability programs;
  • Communicate with other state associations when needed; and
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy law
  • Experience in PUCO operations and energy programs
  • Considerable experience with the Microsoft Suite of products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
  • Skilled in presenting programs and testimony
  • Able to communicate with vendors, hospitals, speakers and customers
  • Excellent customer service skills
