We are currently hiring for a Manager - Field Operations in Austin, TX. A successful candidate will oversee and direct employees in construction, maintenance, installation, and natural gas meters and systems in customer service field activites.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE COULD INCLUDE

Direct customer service field activities including meter reading, collections, leak investigation, emergency coordination and initiating/maintaining customer gas service (as specified by position).

Review customer service field operations and implement changes to improve service and maximize available manpower and equipment. Coordinate customer service activities with other departments, districts, and General Office management as needed.

Advise and assist customers, contractors, state and local code enforcement officials, plumbers, employees, and others with information including but not limited to:

Code interpretation and compliance

Emergency notifications

Incident reporting

Line locating

Pipe sizing

Venting and ventilation requirements

Proper installation of appliances

Direct and/or coordinate certain distribution construction operations relative to line taps, new service installations, and meter and line locations.

Oversee investigation of major incidents such as leaks, fires, explosions, and/or asphyxiation where natural gas may have been a factor. Assist employees, fire and other emergency response officials with their investigations.

Monitor and evaluate changes in piping codes and regulations, trends in industry, and development of new products/ideas that might impact customer service field and dispatching operations. Develop recommendations to implement appropriate changes in customer service policies and procedures (as specified by position).

Compile, prepare, and/or verify information including but not limited to:

Customer service statistics

Industry correspondence

Management proposals/recommendations

Customer correspondence

Budgets

Develop and/or conduct customer service and dispatch training programs.

 

EXPECTATIONS

Associate's degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent formal education PLUS the following job?related knowledge or experience:

Experience with and thorough knowledge of applicable customer service functions, policies, and procedures.

Thorough knowledge of company and governmental operating/safety policies and procedures related to customer service field activities.

Working knowledge of distribution and transmission system operations.

Experience investigating gas-related incidents.

Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position, including computers and applicable software.

Application of math and algebraic formulas.

Experience researching, evaluating, and/or developing technical training programs.

Experience interacting, training, and communicating effectively.

Experience analyzing and determining staffing requirements, work schedules, and equipment needs.

Experience developing information and conducting presentations for groups and individuals.

Experience researching and preparing correspondence, reports, budgets, contracts, policies, and procedures.

Experience reading and interpreting governmental rules and regulations, applicable field policies and procedures, equipment specifications, maps, manuals, and technical studies and reports.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
