Job Description: 

  • Responsible for leading and executing the VCS21 IRAD project, within the Voice Switch Enterprise (VSE). The VSE is home to a series of programs/projects supporting Air Traffic Management and specifically voice communication switches for Air Traffic Controllers.
  • Develops, oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical 
  • aspects of ongoing engineering tasking within the project IRAD guidelines set by the Program Manager and/or customer (internal).
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses engineering project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring engineering project progress and for intervention and problem solving with engineering project managers, line managers, and customers.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, computer engineering or similar engineering discipline.
  • 15+ years of engineering technical lead experience primarily in development projects.
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined team.
  • Experience with geographically diverse teams.
  • Experience managing projects with annual budgets of $5M+
  • Experience managing development projects, including building and leading the project team.
  • Experience developing executable plans to achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience with industry best practices for project engineering, EVMS, and program execution.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to work with both internal and external resources.
  • Strong ability to drive plans to closure.
  • Ability to implement and adapt project execution plans and manage resources from multiple development teams.
  • Experience with management of design to cost activities.
  • Ability to present to internal and external customer at all levels.
  • Strong personal leadership, influence, and motivational skills.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or management.
