Job Description: 

Harris is seeking a COE Supplier Quality Engineer to be responsible for ensuring supplier APQP deployment and compliance to drive supplier excellence and zero defects. Accountable for ensuring supplier quality engineering maintains effective collaboration, communication and alignment with suppliers, procurement, manufacturing engineering, design engineering and quality assurance throughout the product maturity life cycle.   

Role and Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures advanced product quality planning compliance throughout the product maturity cycle.
• Maintains a high performing approved supply base by constantly assessing risks, monitoring performance trends and measuring key performance indicators.
• Manages and maintains supplier ratings, monitors monthly performance and recommends actions to reward top performing suppliers and identify, improve or remove poor performing suppliers.
• Monitoring ASL and SQE supplier assignments to ensure sufficient coverage across supply base.
• Evaluates supplier capability and quality management system assessments and recommends improvement actions to address gaps.

 Skills and Experience: 

• Early engagement in product maturity cycle to drive quality into the design process and at the source.
• APQP deployment.
• Exceptional problem solving/avoidance capability.
• Effective cross-functional collaboration to achieve supplier performance targets.
• Managing supplier performance data and metrics and championing improvement initiatives (i.e., ppm reduction, zero defects, return to green).
• Developing risk mitigation plans for poor performing suppliers.
• Implementing reward programs to recognize top performing suppliers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in a technical field (engineering preferred).
• 5-10 years in the defense industry.
• At least 5 years of work related experience in supplier quality, supply chain or quality is required.
• At least 3 years of experience with APQP deployment.
• Space and defense industry experience preferred.
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
• Proficient in data analysis and converting data to useful information and reports.
