Job Description: 

Harris Corporation is seeking a Network Control Specialist that will provide monitor for analyze troubleshoot network problems within an operations center utilizing network management and monitoring tools.  This position monitors the alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and minimize disruption and impact to the network. This position is part of a 24x7 network control environment, working various shifts, including weekends. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize test methods to analyze/troubleshoot Ethernet; IP; Frame Relay; ATM; WAN; LAN.
  • Work with Local Exchange Carriers ILECs IXCs to resolve WAN problems.
  • Work with onsite technicians remotely to resolve local issues.
  • Resolve problems using internal and external groups as needed to correct trouble on the network and interact with the customer.
  • Provide technical support for IP services for a private network.
  • Support requires physical layer data link network layer knowledge. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or related field with 3 or more years of experience; or 11 plus years of applicable work experience with a High School Diploma.
  • Expertise in remote maintenance and repair of the following network equipment is preferred: Cisco, Sycamore, and APC.
  • 3+ years of experience working with domain knowledge of data protocols including TCP/IP, Frame Relay, and ATM
  • 3+ years working with router protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and RIP.
  • 3+ years of experience working with signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, and IP based networks, and SONET infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of experience with cisco networking equipment. 

Preferred Additional Skills:  

  • Experience with call center phone systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Network Management systems and tools.
  • Experience in remote maintenance and repair of the following network equipment: Cisco, Eastern Research, APC, and Aviat.
  • Experience in UNIX and Remote Access solutions is a plus.
  • Previous experience in telecommunication call centers.
  • Prior experience required in maintaining high service levels in a demanding customer support services environment.
  • CCNA preferred.
