We are currently hiring for a Service Technician II - Customer Service Field in Austin, TX. This position performs an intermediate level of work related to customer service field activities. Schedule is Monday through Friday 12:30pm-9pm (at least minimum of one year on this shift) company truck provided, drive camera ready. On call status required for 1 week scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks. Daily responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Service turn-ons and turn-offs, responding to emergency calls and leak detections, replacement and maintenance of gas meters, etc. Speaking with customers face to face regarding their gas service and gas equipment. Overtime as needed or required during emergencies.

A DAY IN THE LIFE COULD INCLUDE Drive and maintain service truck. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment. Turn gas service on and off. Install, remove, and adjust gas meters, regulators, and related equipment. Respond to Natural Gas related emergencies. Examine and adjust gas-fired equipment. Investigate customer related orders and/or emergency situations including but not limited to: High bills, Carbon monoxide/fumes, Pressure problems, possible leaks, Fires, Explosions, Asphyxiations, and Natural disasters. Maintain various records.

EXPECTATIONS Working knowledge and/or training related to disconnects, reconnects, gas piping, and gas fired equipment. Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested). Experience and knowledge of basic computer usage and applicable computer software. Knowledge of transmission and distribution pipeline system operations. Experience in reading and interpreting maps, atlas pages, house numbers, blueprints, wiring diagrams, pipe sizing tables, and flow charts. Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English. Ability to work with customers, being courteous, and professional. A valid and current driver license is required with a good driving record. Lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10 to 15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 1520 times a day; up to 40 pounds 10 to 15 times a day; over 50 pounds 23 times a week. Climb ladders; stoop, kneel, and crawl on floors and bare ground to access, adjust, and/or repair gas fired equipment, meters, and equipment.
