Job Description:

Harris is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Production Planning Manager! This role is focused on developing and managing production schedules for internal manufacturing operations to satisfy customer demand and internal revenue plans:

  • Analyze and revise production plans, reviews production capacity, and provides appropriate delivery dates as required.
  • Work with other departments (Contracts, Materials, Manufacturing Operations, Program Management, etc.) to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze and report on actual customer demand, available and required capacity, and monitor performance to commit dates by internal and external manufacturing operations.
  • This role involves a detailed understanding of various manufacturing methods, MRP principles and requirements, and Engineering Change Order implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Master Schedule in the MRP system.
  • Schedule production demand based on the product mix and provide accurate commitment dates to Operations     Management, Contracts, and Program Management teams across multiple product lines.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to ensure material requirements are understood and support manufacturing operations.
  • Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Assemble master schedule reporting regarding performance to the revenue and shipment plans.
  • Identify current/planned level of demand and create tactical production plans to meet the identified customer demand.
  • Develop, analyze, monitor, and communicate actual and required capacity requirements.
  • Ensuring alignment between MPS and sales order/contract requirements.
  • Efficiently balancing customer demand, capacity and inventory through the optimization and deployment of a master production schedule.
  • Analyze lead times with operations and supply chain to ensure schedule accuracy.
  • Work with operations to develop and update EOQ to ensure deployment of lean initiatives.
  • Must have knowledge of lean strategies and tools associated with lean manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of Production Control experience with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a scheduling position with extensive demonstrated success in master scheduling. 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience utilizing MRP software in managing the scheduling process.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with limited direction.
  • Experience in the application of Lean Principals to Production Scheduling.
  • Prior experience incorporating Lean initiatives to eliminate waste out of processes, reduce cycle times, and drive cost savings.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
  • Experience in the Aerospace/DOD Industries.
  • Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management.
