The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a consortium of twenty-six cities and water districts that provides drinking water to nearly 19 million people in Southern California. Metropolitan's mission is to provide its service area with adequate and reliable supplies of high quality water to meet current and future needs in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Metropolitan's facilities include the 242-mile Colorado River Aqueduct, five conventional water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 2.6 billion gallons per day, nine surface water reservoirs, 800 miles of pipeline, and 16 hydroelectric power plants.
SR. IT SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (SharePoint)
The MWD currently has one (1) opening for a Sr. IT Software Developer (SharePoint) in the Enterprise Business System Unit of our Information Technology Section at our Headquarters Building in Los Angeles, CA.

SUMMARY
This position is recognized as a technical specialist for SharePoint initiatives (Search, Content Management, Document Management, Business Intelligence, Business Processes, Forms, Records Management, Portals, Collaboration, intranet, and public-facing Internet sites). In this capacity the individual designs, develops, documents, and maintains appropriate SharePoint solutions based on information architecture, taxonomy analysis, and customer's functional and non-functional requirements. This position is also responsible for providing best practices and solution options for building out SharePoint 2013 at the infrastructure, application, and front-end levels and performing hands-on configuration, development, and testing of the solution.

This position requires advanced knowledge of business workflows and in-depth understanding of the capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 (SharePoint Online). In-depth experience with Enterprise Search, Enterprise Content Management, Document Management, Business Intelligence, Business Processes and Forms, Workflow, Records Management, Portals and Collaboration are required. Experience with Microsoft Office InfoPath Forms Services, SharePoint Templates, Master Pages and development experience with Microsoft.NET technologies (ASP.NET, C#, XML, SQL Server, PowerShell, and SharePoint Designer) are also required.

JOB DUTIES
1. Defines, designs, develops, and deploys new or modified custom software that generates reports and sub reports accessing multiple data bases.
2. Defines, designs, develops, and deploys new or modified custom software, programming language, and structured query language for relational databases.
3. Reviews deliverables, provides technical advice, and makes recommendations.
4. Acts as Project Manager; plans, coordinates, and conducts projects within area of responsibility, including monitoring scope, quality, budget, and schedule.
5. Performs other related Application Software Developer job duties as required.

Required Knowledge of: Reporting tools concepts and tool specific functions; relational database; Unified Modeling Language Concepts; Object Oriented Concepts; reporting tools functions; relational data base objects: triggers, stored procedures and packages; coding data base query statements; instantiate Object Oriented classes extending HTTP protocol; reports, sub-reports and advanced reporting functions and stored procedure calls; code and implement middle tier classes and interfaces; multi-threaded and collection of objects processing; dynamic reporting applications using incoming parameters; designee, code, test and deploy relational data base objects: Data base security, firewall technologies, roles and user privileges; web services technology; Business intelligence dash boarding; and current office technology and equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities to: Tune reports process, anticipate potential performance problems, determine and implement solutions; provide technical advice; tune and enhance distributed software applications; integrate transactional data with data warehouse for strategic planning applications; produce reports, understand reporting tools and access vendor site;; instantiate existing Object Oriented classes; invoke business logic objects from Graphic User Interface objects; provide strategic and tactical planning for enterprise information systems; develop prototypes; use independent judgment and exercise discretion; problem solve; prioritize and multi-task; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work independently and in a team environment; lead and train; and operate current office equipment including computers and supporting applications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

A bachelor's degree in a related field is defined as a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

Relevant experience is defined as: software development work utilizing Microsoft SharePoint and web development utilizing HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent that allows you to drive in the course of your employment is required at the time of application.
