Position Description:

The Survey CAD Technician will work as part of the New Britain Office Survey Department contributing to the preparation and production of boundary, topographic and physical feature location surveys, subdivision plans, land preservation surveys, metes and bounds descriptions, description exhibits, as-built record drawings and other land surveying and civil engineering related work. .

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Interact with survey and engineering team members within and outside of G & A including both office and field personnel
  • Effectively manage own time and avoid distractions
  • Possess excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to difficult situations and compressed time frames
  • Participate on teams involved with multiple projects
  • Report pertinent progress information to Project/Department Manager in an organized manorEssential Qualifications:
  •  
  • 5+ years of experience in the land surveying profession
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD Civil 3D software (2014 or later preferred) for the preparation of the various types of survey plans, documents and calculations
  • Familiarity with the technical basics of land surveying, as well as with a variety of the commonly used principles, practices and procedures of land surveying projects
  • Capable of understanding field notes/data, plotting deeds and easements, and point management
  • Ability to create surfaces and produce elevation contours for topographic surveys
  • Ability to create boundary, topographic, as-built and other types of survey plans
  • Familiarity working with CAD templates, styles, standards and drawing procedures
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervisionEssential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and Microsoft Suite
  • Familiarity with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey requirements, title reports exception review, and the preparation of ALTA/NAPS survey plans
  • Familiarity, handling and processing terrestrial LIDAR data a plus
