The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a consortium of twenty six cities and water districts that provides drinking water to nearly 19 million people in Southern California. Metropolitan's facilities include the 242-mile Colorado River Aqueduct, five conventional water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 2.6 billion gallons per day, nine surface water reservoirs, 800 miles of pipeline, and 16 hydroelectric power plants.

Metropolitan Water District has an opening for a Principal Information Technology Analyst (SharePoint Architect). This individual will be responsible for providing functional, technical, and project management guidance to all team members and acts as a technical lead for all SharePoint initiatives (Search, Content Management, Document Management, Business Intelligence, Business Processes, Forms, Records Management, Portals, Collaboration, Intranet, and public-facing Internet sites).

In this capacity the individual designs and documents appropriate SharePoint solutions based on information architecture, taxonomy analysis, and customer's functional and non-functional requirements. This position is also responsible for providing best practices and solution options for building out SharePoint 2013 and supporting SharePoint 2007/2010 sites at the infrastructure, application, and front-end levels and performing hands-on configuration, development, and testing of the solution.

*Serves as the resident authority for the development, implementation and support efforts in one or more major IT disciplines; coordinates activities with business units; develops long-term project goals for the discipline(s); assists in the development and implementation of technical work plans for specific activities; assigns tasks and monitors execution of work.

*Interprets business needs for one or more IT disciplines; identifies and analyzes critical issues; recommends solutions and resolves complex problems; develops new processes and procedures to meet new requirements or anticipated changes; advises appropriate staff.

*Evaluates existing and emerging technology in major IT discipline(s); introduces new and enhanced technology solutions where appropriate to ensure efficient operations; analyzes technical information to stay abreast of technological advances and their potential applicability to District needs; provides training and guidance in the discipline(s) to help develop other staff members and ensure that their skill levels meet current and future business needs.

*Plans, directs and manages the assessment of user requirements, feasibility, technical direction, business case analysis, cost projections, benefit quantification, risk analysis, schedule and scope for IT projects I major initiatives.

*Performs other related duties as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS: EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of increasingly responsible experience, of which two years must have been at the Senior Programmer Analyst or Senior Systems Analyst level.

Required Knowledge in specified disciplines of:

Advanced knowledge of business workflows and in-depth understanding of the capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 (SharePoint Online) required; SharePoint 2010 and 2007 desired. In-depth experience with Enterprise Search, Enterprise Content Management, Document Management, Business Intelligence, Business Processes and Forms, Workflow, Records Management, Portals and Collaboration is highly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office InfoPath Forms Services, SharePoint Templates (Application Templates, Master Pages, and Role-Based Templates) and development experience with Microsoft.NET technologies (ASP.NET, C#), XML, SQL Server, PowerShell, Visual Studio, and SharePoint Designer is also required.

 

Required Skills and Abilities to:

*Communicate orally and in writing on administrative and technical topics

*Prepare presentations for executive management, Board of Directors, member agencies, regulatory agencies, and funding sources

*Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels within the organization, other agencies, regulatory agencies, special interest groups, and the public

*Solid experience with MS Office applications

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Licenses

*Valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent in state of residency

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

*Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) for Microsoft SharePoint 2013, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) for Microsoft SharePoint 2013, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft SharePoint 2013.

*Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM) for Microsoft SharePoint 2013 is highly desirable.
