This Professional & Scientific full time position will be filled as a Lead Database Administrator (PID4).

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

  • Participates in the BI project planning process to establish business requirements, define deliverables and establish timelines;
  • Lead BI projects by conducting data analysis, facilitating design, collaborating with key stakeholders, and working with technical and functional staff to deliver solutions;
  • Collaborate with functional staff to attain in-depth knowledge of business subject matter, processes and data;
  • Design, develop, analyze, and support data layer objects and ETL processes;
  • Responsible for design, developing, managing, and updating data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical models of the data warehouse, data mart, and staging areas.
  • Participate in overall design, deployment and operations of the BI and DW Architecture including best practices for high-availability, scalability and reliability;
  • Research new technologies and industry trends, and determine applicability to our campus environment;
  • Provide guidance, and mentoring for the campus BI Community;The qualifications for this job posting are described as competencies or behaviors needed to be able to perform the job duties of the position at a defined proficiency level/standard.   • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, Business Intelligence or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive (typically 5-7 years) IT experience to include 3 or more years practical experience developing enterprise BI solutions
  • Extensive Knowledge of data warehousing/business intelligence best practices, methodologies, standards, and architectures.
  • Proven track record of delivering BI projects through the full development lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, development, analytics, measurement, implementation and support.
  • Extensive Knowledge of relational database design, logical data modeling, data warehousing, and relational database management systems preferably Oracle 11x and MS SQL Server 2012
  • Experience with contemporary BI tools (Microsoft, Tableau, IBM, SAP, Qlik, …)
  • Project management, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, business process, and design skills
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent service orientation and customer relations skills
  • Keen attention to detail, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server BI technology stack, specifically T-SQL,SSAS cubes, SSRS reports, SSIS procedures, Self-service BI, Sharepoint and security administration.
  • Knowledge of OLAP technologies and dimensional modeling, including their applicability to various reporting problems
  • Knowledge of industry trends including data mining, visualization, and predictive modeling
  • Experience in higher education and their associated data landscapes.
  • Exposure to a team oriented work environment
