Environmental Specialist, April – Present

  • Oversaw successful preparation of Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Application Summary Reports (ASRs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) for projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California Coastal Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Historic Preservation Act, the Port’s Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP), and other relevant regulations. Work includes review and management of the documents and associated special studies, budget management, coordination with regulatory agencies, coordination with internal departments, and preparation of presentation and other associated materials for public meetings. Managed consultants, budgets, contracts, and correspondence with the Board of Harbor Commissioners regarding Port infrastructure projects.
  • Built and managed the Schools and Related Sites Mitigation Grant Program, a community grants program providing funding for mitigating effects from port-related operations. Activities include revising guidelines, implementing the program, working with the Advisory Committee, conducting community workshops, preparing memoranda and presentations to the Board of Harbor Commissioners, contract preparation, and monitoring grant recipients for compliance with reporting requirements, contract terms, and budget.
  • Collaborated with the City of Long Beach on the Westside Long Beach Livability Implementation Plan.
  • Worked on the team responsible for the development of the Port Climate Adaptation Plan.
  • Collaborated with other Port divisions, regulatory agencies, and Port tenants on environmental programs, including regulatory compliance and permitting.
  • Attended and presented at conferences and events to provide information on the Port’s environmental programs and initiatives.
  • Administered various tasks associated with the CEQA and NEPA process, including attendance at public meetings and preparing documents for filing with government agencies.
