PROJECT DETAILS
Study of Redmud as an Adsorbent for Color Solutions:
The study attempted to treat textile waste for removal of color using activated redmud. The capacity of redmud was obtained by carrying out the optimization and isotherm studies. These studies showed moderate adsorption characteristics of redmud.
Biosorption – A novel way for the removal of heavy metals:
The project bagged sponsorship from KSCST. The microbial interactions with cadmium have been studied in pseudomonas species and fungi species by the process called biosorption. The capacity of biomass was obtained by carrying out optimization and isotherm studies. The column studies have been carried out to know the saturation point and regeneration point.
Purification of Bacterial Tannase:
The objective was to purify the Tannase enzyme produced from bacteria by decolorization and chromatographic techniques. Tannase is also known as Tannin Acyl Hydrolase is an enzyme which plays a role in the hydrolysis of tannic acid. Many fungi have been known for the production of Tannase. The decolorization and ion exchange chromatography was done. 33.1 % of decolorization was seen with the yield of 80.8%. 17 fold purification with 38.78% recovery was seen in case of step wise elution and 17 fold purification with 0.99% recovery in case of continuous mode elution.
