Related Experience: GEICO INSURANCE: November 22, 1999 - Current
Nov. 1999 - May 2000: I began my career with Geico Insurance as a Claims Service Representative (CSR) in 1999. At that time I worked in a "Call Center" environment taking initial claims, handling property damage, and determining liability of minor accidents while also maintaining a diary. I also investigated potential fraudulent claims and referred such claims to our Special Investigative Unit (SIU). After approximately 4 months in the CSR department I was promoted to CSR Coach in which I provided assistance to new associates by answering questions and helping them to determine liability of new claims.
May 2000 - Nov. 2000: I was promoted to the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) department in May of 2000. At that time I handled many PIP claims while also maintaining a diary. I investigated PIP claims to determine who would qualify for PIP benefits based on the policy contract. My duties also included paying medical bills timely and scheduling Independent Medical Examinatins (IME's) after determining if one was needed. I also settled loss wage claims directly with the insured and/or their attorney and investigated potential fraudulent claims and referred such claims to our Special Investigative Unit (SIU). I learned a lot about injuries and medical terminology while working in this department.
Nov. 2000 - Aug. 2001: I was promoted to Telephonic Claims Representative (TCR1) in November of 2000. In this department I investigated disputed liability claims and obtained recorded statements, from insureds, claimants, witnesses, and other interested parties. I also investigated coverage issues to determine if proper coverage would be afforded. I determined amount of case reserves to be set for each claim and maintained a diary. I also investigated potential fraudulent claims and referred such claims to our Special Investigative Unit (SIU). I also prepared files for Arbitration if needed.
Aug. 2001 - Aug. 2002: I was promoted to Telephonic Claims Representative (TCR II) in August 2001 at which time I had many duties. I evaluated 1st and 3rd party soft tissue injuries, investigated coverage issues, obtained recorded statements from appropriate parties, determined case reserves to be set timely, investigated liability, reviewed and evaluated demands which were answered on a timely basis both verbally and in writing, negotiated injury claims with both insureds and claimants and/or their attorney, scheduled mediations, investigated potential fraudulant claims and referred such claims to our Special Investigative Unit (SIU), prepared files for Arbitration, and maintained a diary.
Aug. 2002- May 2005: I was promoted to the Continuing Unit (CU) in August of 2002. In this department I evaluated 1st and 3rd party severe and catastrophic injuries, answered demands timely verbally and in writing, negotiated settlements with interested parties and/or their attorney, handled litigated claims, worked closely with Staff Counsel, attended trials and pre-trials, investigated liability, investigated coverage issues, attended mediations and presented cases to the attorney and interested party, set-up settlement conferences with attorneys office in efforts to resolve claims quickly, obtained recorded statements, determined case reserves to be set timely, investigated potential fraudulent claims and referred such claims to our Special Investigative Unit (SIU), worked closely with field representatives, prepared files for Arbitration, maintained diary and many other duties.
June 2005 - Current: I am currently a Claims Supervisor. At this time I have twelve direct reports. My main duty is providing assistance to associates, but I also have many other duties. I provide daily statistic reports to the associates, coach associates, monitor associate calls, consistently monitor associates phone stats, provide monthly performance report reviews to the associates, ensure timesheets are completed timely, maintain associates files and work closely with human resources department, approve letters, set case reserves, approve payments, review claims and provide instructions if needed. I am also in charge of sending reports to other supervisors and tracking their completion of reports. I also attend supervisor help desk twice a week, which is a station for associates to call with particular questions.
