INTERNSHIPS:
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, summer of 2005
• Working under a mentor in the marketing department of this non-profit organization I gained valuable experience in public speaking and organizing fundraising events
• Spoke at several luncheons on behalf of Big Brothers/Big Sisters
• tabled at various fairs and events where my goal was to sell Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs to people of all walks of life.
• was responsible for providing important information about the programs that are available, retrieving contact information and explaining how the each program benefits both “Bigs” and “Littles.”
• attended many business association meetings, corporate meetings, and community fairs where representing Big Brothers and Big Sisters in an attempt to attract funding and/or “Bigs.”

ASSOCIATIONS:
I was the president of the Big Brothers Big Sisters University of Louisville chapter. This is a student organization in which the main goals are to get students involved in Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs, as well as advertise the Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs making them known to students. As the president I was responsible for working with Big Brothers/Big Sisters staff members to organize meetings as well as delegate tasks, create itineraries, plan events and recruit members/participants. I also spoke at many luncheons and meetings regarding Big Brothers/Big Sisters efforts.

In my efforts to work towards a better tomorrow for women, I was a founding member of the University of Louisville Feminist Alliance (ULFA). ULFA is a student organization with the goal of informing all students about reproductive rights and other important feminist issues. I not only wrote the constitution for this organization but organized and facilitated group meetings, events and protests.
