Seeks and develops potential contributors for workforce development initiatives. Responsible for developing and growing the donor base, increasing the size of gifts and grants. Builds relationships with corporate community relations representatives by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Researches foundations and other potential contributors, including corporations.
  2. Contacts foundations and potential contributors to generate interest in providing support.
  3. Develops and executes strategies to obtain contributions from individuals, foundations and businesses.
  4. Arranges meetings with corporate philanthropic groups and foundations that offer supportive grants.
  5. Prepares and delivers presentations to foundations and other potential contributors. 
  6. Builds relationships with businesses in the community.
  7. Manage online and social media development efforts. 
  8. Writes development letters and proposals to obtain contributions from foundations and other potential contributors. 
  9. Conducts research for prospective contributor presentations and grant proposals.
  10. Lead in the development and implementation of development events.
  11. Handles all relations with current and potential donors, including annual follow-up reports.
  12. Writes press releases and other communication materials for major contributions. 
  13. Assists with communications projects as requested.

 

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Exercises immediate guidance, assigns and allocates work, and provides basic training.  Performs detailed work of the same or closely allied nature.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community,  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities include establishment of short-range plans and objectives within scope of organization-wide policies and common goals.  Consults with superior on specific matters only where clarification, interpretation, or exception to organization policy may be required.

 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Work involves contacts with personnel of other departments within the organization as well as with general public, representatives of other organizations, vendors, etc., where considerable discretion, resourcefulness, and persuasiveness is required to achieve desired objectives.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

The ability to understand more advance computer skills and be proficient in the intermediate knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
