The Purchasing Agent is responsible for day to day purchasing activities for indirect materials or services or outsourced products or services needed to meet the needs of Benjamin Moore.  The candidate will work under the guidance of the Purchasing Director / Manager to identify suppliers and prepare RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for assigned products or services.  The Purchasing Agent will complete bid evaluations and analysis to determine recommended sourcing award.  The candidate will update procurement system input, cost models, and maintain supplier metrics necessary for effective reporting and communication. 
The individual is responsible for up to $40 million in annual procurement expenditures.  The position manages all aspects of the procurement process for capital equipment, construction, consulting, engineering and general MRO requirements.  The Purchasing Agent will develop new sources of supply, solicit proposals, negotiate agreements, develop procurement strategies, make contractual commitments and provide post award contract management. The individual will work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure a pro-active procurement strategy and approach to the existing and developing business needs.
Essential Duties

Prepare RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for product categories; complete bid evaluations.
Maintain Procurement Systems information – contracts, pricing, etc.
Track supplier metrics, communicate supplier performance, and forecast requirements, as needed, ensuring all purchases consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
Update price models, as required.  Analyze and deliver timely cost information. Maintain sourcing database and metrics for reporting and communicating Procurement activities.
Negotiate with suppliers for execution of Supply Agreements that achieve lowest total system cost and which are in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Coordinate with internal customers to implement supplier changes, as required; assist plants and internal customers on sourcing related issues.
Ensure all purchases consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in field of business, engineering or sciences; MBA preferred; C.P.M. and CPSM a plus.


Prefer sourcing experience within a supply chain environment.


Industrial manufacturing and/or Business Management experience preferred


Experience in use of ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)


Understanding of standard purchasing and supply chain concepts, practices and procedures

Familiar with financial management and analysis

Travel Requirements: 15% overnight
